I’ve Been Real Busy – Promise!

When I think that I haven’t even gotten to read so many of your blog posts the last few days I have to sit and think…why? Well, my needles are steaming so I guess that means I have been keeping pretty busy!

Also, just before we get to picture-y goodness, I have also:

  • Redone my About Page for the Blog.
  • Am getting all the Stitch Patterns into their own drop-down menu on the blog – hopefully I will finish that tonight.
  • Major amounts of photo editing.
  • Updating my Etsy Store with things that most likely won’t sell – I still have hope.

Okay friends and neighbors, now to the pictures!!!

** THE LINK HAT – LONG STRIPED STOCKING HAT **

Right Side

THE LINK LIKE HAT!

So I have made two of these in the past week, one for Sheri whose package never arrive on our swap (UPDATE: I just got an email that her package has finally arrived in Germany!! It only took one and a half months – God Bless the United States Postal Service). So now both hats need to be put up on the store.

** BOBBLES AND LACE AND SLOUCHY HAT GOODNESS **

So after starting down the road of super adventurous (and time-consuming) knitting, I needed a quick fix. This hat knit up very quickly and has all sorts of yummy bobbles, lace, ribbing, dimension and super fun stuff. I highly recommend it!

** SWEET AS HONEY RIBBED HAT **

9352169645_07e6e80280_zI forgot that I had started making another one of these after the first one – because I gave the first one to a friend. This may be the biggest hurdle in running a business for me, I love giving things away! So when I saw it all lonely at the bottom of my knitting bag I went ahead and finished it.

** THE RUFFLE SCARF FROM HELL – WELL… TWO RUFFLE SCARVES FROM HELL **

Okay, this baby was born from the very sweet gift from a friend. It is Patons Pirouette Yarn and it is pretty when it is finished. Working with it though made me want to punch a wall and pull out my hair. Oh well, the two skeins are gone and I have two scarves to show for it.

** MY NEW ADVENTURE IN LACE KNITTING!! **

This has been the project taking up the majority of my time here lately, my very first attempt into lace knitting! I am so excited….like a kid at Christmas. The lace yarn (Patons again) was found at the bottom of my yarn stash so I just dug in. Size 3US circular needles and a nice, simple pattern for a beginner. I cannot wait to finish my precious!

Alrighty, that about catches me up I think. I need to go work on my store, organize the pages for the Stitch Patterns a week, need to do the stitch patterns for this week and last week, work on my lace….

Sorry, I got distracted there.

Okay, plan B. I am going to knit then I am going to catch up with all my delicious blogging friends. I’ve missed you and cannot wait to see what you’ve been up to!

You won’t muck it up..go slow and easy and I find that if I repeat the pattern in my mind as I am knitting, it really helps to keep you focused on what you are doing..Learning to focus is the big thing. Have fun with it and someone told me once that there are no mistakes in knitting. It becomes part of the pattern. Seriously, just focus and take your time and it will be beautiful. 🙂

I am so excited! It’ll take a little longer because I keep putting it aside if I’m distracted or tired – heaven knows I have plenty if “brainless” projects to do then:)

Hopefully more pictures soon – and I finished try another ruffle scarf!

I agree re: etsy. It’s a bit difficult. Try ebay? I love your hats they are too cute! Everything looks good! I’m also inspired by your lace work…you did a great job! Perhaps I’ll join you in lace-land soon.

I’ve been told its lovely this time of year;)

Seriously though, working with that weight of yarn has really been great. Smaller needles, thinner yarn and tiny stitches have been great for my (arthritic) hand. I’m kinda in love!

Etsy has been rough. Luckily I have good word if mouth and people are starting to enquire about potential projects – fingers crossed!

Oooh I love that bobble hat! I’ve been looking for some nice easy patterns to start myself off on some hat knitting… This one might have to go on the list 🙂

I am a big fan of this hat – especially since it only has two rows of bobbles! I love how they look – I despise making them! It’s under Olympic Tam on Ravelry if you are interested!

The hat was fun – and only two rows of bobbles made it totally doable. 🙂

Yes! I love lace! I love the weight, the small needles, the girly frilliness….I am in love! 😉

I tried Etsy and Ebay, no luck. Today I discovered a local crafts store that is also a co-op. I think I’ll try there. Anyway, I’ll bet you do better than you think!

I wish I could get away with saying crikey!

I’ve needed the distraction, and knitting is a great way to not end up pulling out your own hair! 🙂 I am super excited about the shawl – if it turns out then I will finally have some confidence to work with the AH-MAZING! yarn that someone sent me 😉

Hahahaha! What’s wrong with crikey? You should introduce it to your side of the pond! If you think that’s a bit of random Britishness you don’t know the half of it 😉 in Liverpool people say ‘me kecks’ when they mean ‘my trousers’ and no one bats an eyelid!

The shawl looks a-ma-zing so far 😀 I can’t believe it’s your first lace shawl! I think you’ll be more than ready for that other yarn when you’ve finished it!

If I could get away with saying anything from across the pond I would….in a heartbeat. But Americans trying to sound British more or less sound drunk – or as if they have suffered a sever head injury.

Thank you for the shawl comment, I’m a little in love with it! I cannot wait to upgrade yarn and do another one! I am becoming insatiable…maybe it is the amazing new needles I am working with? 🙂

To be honest I never really thought of crikey being just for Brits. Now I think about it we sound stupid saying things like ‘awesome’. Perhaps I should give you a new British-ism every week 😉! They might amuse you!

There are so many food related ones! Jelly here is not the same as jelly (jam to us Brits) in the USA. And chips are something we eat with fish, not from a packet.

I am Canadian, born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, but living just outside of Montreal, Quebec right now. My ancestry on my dads side is from Devon and surrounding areas

Yep, no kidding, it really is. You have a roast joint of meat, say a leg of lamb or a shoulder of pork or some beef. Or chicken. But then you just call that a roast chicken!

Beautiful as always! I actually didn’t know you could knit bobbles, haha. I’ve used them in crochet a lot, but I feel like knitting them would be hard. But knitting is hard for me, in general. I LOVE LOVE that bobble and lace hat. And the Link hat. Who am I kidding? I LOVE them all, and your projects always motivate me to practice knitting.

I know how frustrating it is to watch your Etsy shop sit there, day after day, week after week, and eventually, year after year. When I first listed items, I checked every day. I seriously thought the things I’d listed would go within a week. I still have 2 of those items in my shop right now, nearly 3 years later. Rude awakening. But don’t give up! I love everything you make, and I know a lot of people do too.

You are just too kind for words. I know that the market is flooded with handmade things and that it would be hard – but it is silly to think that I can only find justification by selling to a stranger. I am coming around more to the idea of networking with people I know, I just have to quit giving things away for free…well…at least some of the time.;)

I’m glad to hear the knitting is going well, hard or not you’re learning something brand new and it takes time. Also, I hate making bobbles – they’re hard on my hands and take forever! This hat only has two rows of them so I could handle it without becoming a danger to my knitting needles.

So good to hear from you, going to go catch up with your blog now – see what stuff you’ve made that motivates me! 🙂

Way to go being productive. You’ve reminded me I probably need to spend some time updating the blog, making it look all probably. I love all your projects though…especially the blue one. If it’s going up on your etsy store will you send me the link?

I’m imagining you petting the lace with a slightly crazed look in your eye, saying “Nooooo! Don’t touch the precioussssss..” any time a family member or friend gets too close.

No, I wouldn’t know anything about such behavior, why do you ask? 😛

I had a staring contest with my cat yesterday as he sniffed the yarn. Think an old west showdown….once he went in for the lick I DOVE off that couch and curled my yarn to my chest.

I am not ashamed….well, maybe a little. At least there’s no visual record of it happening! 😉

I didn’t see a link to the pattern for the lovely lacy hat – do you provide a link to Ravelry or someplace where the pattern is available? Also, what yarn did you use for that hat – it looks like a bulkier-weight yarn, but sometimes it hard to tell in the pictures. Thanks!

It is! I got it for my niece last year but she likes to keep in on the dummy. She can see it whenever she’s here – like it’s holding her place.
Either that or she got too old for it and didn’t want to hurt my feelings 😉

Some fabulous creations you have here! Thanks for sharing! Myself, I can’t knit for the life of me and not ready to learn. My passion is crochet and whatever else I come up with LOL. And hey, crikey is not just for the brit’s love, I used to say that a lot. But I love the idea of lottieknits sharing 😛 Always fun to introduce new words to our life! Take care!

I’m glad you like them, I am hoping to learn how to crochet because I love what you can create that knitters can’t!
As for Lottie, she’s amazing 🙂
