Come Knit Along with Stacy and I!

So I have finally decided to go ahead and start with posting this Knit Along! I am so excited and cannot wait to see how many people we can get on board!

So here’s the details! Stacy from Musing and Motion, who has been kind enough to help co-host (really I am following her awesomeness here)  this with me have decided to go with the Jayashri Pullover from Knit Picks by Meghan Jones.

** The Pattern Details **

  1. For the man body of the sweater is a DK weight yarn (Knit Picks suggests Gloss DK Yarn – between 8 and 16 balls based on measurements)
  2. For the collar is a fingering weight yarn ( Knit Picks suggests Palette Yarn – 1 ball)
  3. The finished bust measurements can be sized from 34″ to 62″ so it can be accessible to any size and is meant to be worn with a 2″ positive ease.
  4. The needles are size 5 US 32″ Circulars – size 6 US 32″ – size 6 US DPNS

** The Knit Along Details **

Stacy and I are hoping to get this thing started on SEPTEMBER 16th – which gives us all three whole weeks to get our yarn and get ready! If you are interested please leave a comment and if you can think to on how to improve this whole process please let me know. I cannot wait to knit along with you – it’ll be my first!

I am actually interested but I don’t think that type of yarn is available here in the Philippines. Any alternatives? Also I don’t have a circular needle yet. And I’ve only made knit pearl scarves for knitting projects. Do you think I’d be able to follow along? 🙂

Hmm…. I will read the pattern again when I get home and check it out. I know the yarn as long as it is DK weight and a fingerling weight would work. I’m sure if I can’t help you read the pattern flat then some other wonderful blogger could! 😉

I’ve never done one of these before, so I have a few questions. How would I access the pattern? What level of skill is required? If I can’t keep up (Miss Lazy and Easily Distracted here..) will I get kicked out of a secret society or what? lol!

No secret society here my friend!
The pattern is available on Knit Pick’s website (if I linked the stupid thing right you can click it to find it). This is a no pressure, fun knit along. I just wanted to make my first sweater with such a wonderful group of people!
Oh – when Stacy and I were going through patterns I was pretty careful not to pick something insane (my first sweater and all) so I think it’s a pretty easy pattern. If you’re still worried Stacy at Musings and Motion could help as well!

Glenda, if you get kicked out, I will too, and then we can follow along in the slow lane together 🙂 I knit REALLY slowly. Until a few months ago, the last time I knit I was about 5 or 6 years old…so i’m really a beginner.

I thinks I have most of the answers from above now. This would also be my first sweater so I would love to join in. All I need to do now is buy the chart, remembering to convert the dollars to pounds.

Thank you, that is so very kind. I don’t think I can write about it though because I have over 500 followers – I think that may be the cutoff? Either way, it really has made my day and I am so excited you are excited about the KAL!!

I may end up having to pass on this one after all…not 100% sure on that yet but it’s starting to look that way. Just too many other projects going on, a couple of deadlines (babies, birthdays, that sort of thing) coming up, and some home improvements that are turning out to be more drama than I thought they would be.

The sweater isn’t my style, I don’t think it would flatter me. But I look forward to following along and hopefully you’ll do another KAL at some point!

You could always knit it for yourself? I know that is an odd concept since I never really get to play with my knitted things but I am keeping this sweater all for myself. ^.^

Believe me, I thought about it. The two things that are against the argument is that I’m within a hair-breadth of having a nervous break-down trying to run this business (or rather getting it off the starting block) and working full time as well as being a mum etc. plus the style wouldn’t really suit me. Remember, I have the definition of an ironing board : )

I look like Barbie gained twenty pounds and had a boob job, who cares?
I get where you are coming from though. Trying to work full time and get a business going at least, I am barely keeping my wits about me. I feel like every second that ticks by I haven’t utilized my time properly.
Take are of yourself, knitting will be here. Also, if you need to vent, feel free to PM me or email me – sometimes it is utterly necessary to survival 😉

It’s just got to a stage where every little thing that goes wrong makes me want to shout in rage or howl with despair. Not sure how long I can keep it up.
Thanks for the support. I know you have plenty on your own plate.

I know, right?! I started working a pattern the other night for this charity thing and didn’t realize for 12 rows that I was completely mucking up everything about the pattern and I cried! I never cry, I scared the hell out of my husband who was baffled as I frogged that garment like it had killed our cat. 🙂
Seriously though, if you need to vent I’m here.
