I know at some point all you wonderful bloggers are going to throw your hands up, scream “Enough Already!” and quit giving me fee advice. Here’s to hoping I haven’t hit that wall yet! π
So here it is:
I received an email asking me questions about TNNA – which I know nothing about. After looking at their website I don’t feel any smarter or helpful. Hopefully this is where you awesomely kind and knowledgeable bloggers come in. So here are her questions:
1. What is TNNA?
2. Do you need to be a member?
3. How do you become a member?
4. Is it like the Knitters Guild?
5. Do you have to own a business?
6. Is there anywhere I can find more information about it than just their website?
Any and all comments, suggestion or words of encouragement that I can pass on would be greatly appreciated!
Oh…I’ve been knitting too!
More on knitting when I get a day off – hopefully Sunday. Also, if you are doing October’s #yarnpadc you can keep up to date with my pics on Instagram, although my plan (oh how good I am at planning!) is to do a weeks worth of photos every weekend.
Well friends and neighbors it’s time I get back to work…:( Miss all your shenanigans and can’t wait to catch up with all if you!
For the very uninformed…What is TNNA?
The National Needle Arts Association.
Thanks for that.
Welcome, wish I could tell you more!
didn’t know they exist, let me go google them π
Love the cables and the color is awesome! Sorry, but I’m no help with the questions. Never heard of it before.
Thank you, this brioche cable is a pain but it sue is perdy;)
I have no idea what TNNA is. Hopefully someone will know and we all can be in the loop π Your knitting looks fabulous! I love the color and the cables are awesome!
Thank you! They’re a pain but they’re 1. Reversible and 2. Something I’ve never tried before.
It’s fun trying new things….most of the time π
TNNA has an annual convention, like Stitches but for all Needle Arts. The Knitmore girls have gone before, their blog might be helpful. http://knitmoregirls.libsyn.com/cross-pollinate-episode-134-the-knitmore-girls They have some videos on YouTube
As always, thank you so much!
Glad to be of help.
I owe you so big it is scary π
Naw! That’s what blog friends are for.
I love that yarn – can you make me a scarf like that? I’d say about 84″ will do?!
Seriously, great scarf.
The yarn is actually Red Heart – and it’s sooo soft! I would lie to knit you something, we should think swap;)
Wow! Really??
OK! I’m game.
What would you like?
Just made some alpaca mittens which will go on the blog this week. I can do those in any colour from the shop!
Or a hat? Got one of those going up too. In bamboo and silk. Got that in three colours.
I KNOW!!! I RUFFLE SCARF IS WHAT YOU NEED : ))
I have some new stock….
Ruffle yarn eh? You know, I’ve had the oddest hankering for that;)
Do you really want to do a swap overseas?
Why not? We can’t help where we live.
And we can be sensible with the size/weight plus it is Christmas coming up.
But you have to tell me what colours you like. And recalling your post about your first swap (! that was funny) be sensible in what we send…
Afraid I can’t help with TNNA (didn’t even know what it stood for) but maybe there is a group on Ravelry about it? If it was me I probably would have just said a polite ‘sorry I don’t know’ by now π³ well done on going the extra mile!
I’ve tried, that is all I can do. Side-note: TNNA is The National Needle Arts Association.
Ah, I see, I’ve seen designers mention it before on Ravelry and I guessed it was some sort of big trade fair type thing in America but I decided that as I would lack the necessary finances to even consider going it wasn’t worth worrying about!
It was held here in Columbus a few months ago and I didn’t know what it was. I heard about on the Knitmore Girls Podcast, didn’t know what it was. Then this email seemed serendipitous that I just go help her figure out what it was.
By the way, forgive my ignorance, but what is yarnpadc? I keep seeing it pop up but I have no idea what it is! π³
It’s Octobers yarn picture a day contest. I don’t know if there’s prizes but the pics have been a blast!
Oh, I seeeeeeeeee! Now I know what it means when it pops up on twitter! Can anyone join in or do you have to sign up? π
Anyone can join in. I saw it on Knitterly Hooker’s blog and just jumped on the wagon!
Sounds fun! I might have a go π
You should! Also, have you looked at the Tiny Owl Knits book? What is the yarn/knitting equivalent to orgasming?
Hahahaha….. Don’t know, but I have seen it on Ravelry so I know what you mean π
*drooling*….
I’ve tried knitting cables like those but I keep doing something wrong.
I do so many things wearing that I just roll with it. If I got through a project without a blip my head might explode!
I tried a pattern calling for a yarn over on a twisted rib that’s six stitches wide and it left huge holes in the fabric and I suspect it’s because I knit combined, rather than English or continental. I got it to work today with a four stitch wide rib, probably because there’s no yarn overs. But it’s like contortionism to do it.
Right? Without ruining the post I am doing on Wednesday? (I dunno, I’m writing them all right now) my lifeline broke and I had to frog 5 feet of this stupid, stupid scarf. I was heartbroken and saying things that would make a sailor blush.
I am going to try to master straight brioche before I try to add in a stupid cable. I mean, sl1, yo, k2tog….how the hell can you pick all that up if you screw up?
Diatribe over.
For now π
Oh no, five feet? I’d be using the same vocabulary.
I think I had to invent new curse words, I’d worn all the standard (and not so standard) ones out.
So you knit continental, don’t you? Left-to-right?
I can do both but I prefer continental. I try to mix it up since my hand injury/arthritis debacle, but it’s a pain. Plus, it really mess with my gauge.
Lol we wouldn’t want your head to explode!
No, it’s actually pretty important. Now if a toe exploded, maybe not such a big deal.
No, it’s actually pretty important. Now if a toe exploded, maybe not such a big deal.
Big toes, if you like standing straight.
Standing straight is overrated, especially compared to losing your head. Plus, think of the time I could save knitting socks!
I love the scarf! Gorgeous color and beautiful pattern! Now I’m off to find Knitterly Hooker and the yarnpadc. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you! Cannot wait to see your photos – her blog always has the coolest stuff! π
